6 Ways to Enjoy Your Garden On a Rainy Day
We know that the British weather isn’t always reliable. Chances are, you’ve prepped for a sun-filled summer and have been let down by days and days of rain. Typical, isn’t it! Well, we’re used to tackling the wetter weather here in the UK, so we’re not going to let a bit of rain get in the way of our fun, are we?
There’s plenty of ways to keep enjoying your garden, even on a rainy day. Take a look at some of our top recommendations!
- Create Shelter
Our favourite poor-weather fail-safe plan is to invest in a good old garden gazebo. With a gazebo, you can still enjoy the comfort of your rattan furniture set without having to get wet! Whether you’re buying a small gazebo for family use or renting a huge one to cover a large area for that important outdoor party you were planning on hosting, you can’t deny the effectiveness of a gazebo in saving your outdoor activities from being cancelled.
- Get Gardening
For some gardeners, rainy days are the perfect time to get stuck in with some serious gardening work. Much preferable to working in the hot sun, the rainy day gardener will find that weeds can be pulled up much more easily – making the job twice as quick to complete! Sure it’s not as fun in a downpour, but light steady rain can make gardening an absolute dream for some.
- Relax With Koi
If you’ve got a koi pond in your garden, you’ll find that the best time to watch them is when it’s raining. Something about the movement in the water causes those guys to be really active, so take a closer look next time it rains – but maybe bring an umbrella with you while you’re watching!
- Pitch a Tent
Probably not one for the adults, but your kids will love the adventure of pitching a tent in the garden and relaxing inside with a good book or some games while listening to the sound of raindrops on the canvas.
- Convert Your Shed
Your shed holds countless possibilities for enjoying your garden while still technically being indoors. Transform the shed into a peaceful office space, or create an outdoor bar with plenty of shelter and rattan furniture seating that you can enjoy rain or shine.
- Embrace the Rain
Create a little more of your own! Turning the sprinklers on in the garden is a great way of making the rain even more fun for kids – they’ll love running around on the grass and playing in the water, even if you’re keeping an eye on them from indoors with a cuppa.
