Manufactured in Germany by HDM, the ELESGO High Gloss range has been extensively tested to ensure that it meets the high standard expected in Germany.
One thing we often get asked here at Leader Stores is “Is Your ELESGO Flooring Scratch Proof?” and that is what we will aim to explain in this post.
Elesgo VS Other Brands
HDM have tested ELESGO High Gloss Laminate Flooring against a number of top UK competitors products, which are often sold as a retailers own brand “Gloss Flooring” products. Their results of these tests were very interesting to say the least.
Below is a table outlining these findings, which we will explain in more detail below;

The table shows both the product details of each range tested and also the level of resistance offered by each. This is measured in two ways, both of which combine to provide the scratch resistant surface;
1) Wear Resistance – A measurement which observes the amount of wear a surface will take before being affected.
2) Scratch Resistance – A measurement which observes the hardness of a surface and it’s protection from scratching.
From the results in the table we can observe that:-
A) ELESGO gives by far the best Wear Resistance figures according to the EN14978: 2006 test – better than any of the competitor’s High Gloss samples tested.
B) ELESGO gives a range of Scratch Resistance results which are better than the competitor’s Wenge and White High Gloss samples; but no better than the competitor’s two Walnut Designs. However, it is worth noting that the competitor’s Walnut designs are not really High Gloss (see below), so they won’t be expected show scratches as easily.
C) ELESGO gives exceedingly high Gloss Levels which are similar to those obtained with the competitors Wenge and White products. However, these designs are much worse than ELESGO for scratching and abrasion. The two Walnut Designs both have considerably lower Gloss Levels, and thus, are not really suitable to call High Gloss which explains why they appear to have a higher Scratch Resistance.
In Summary
These results help us to understand that, if an ELESGO Supergloss Flooring product has a higher Wear Resistance (eg. 7000 cycles), this does not necessarily mean that it will have a higher Scratch Resistance (eg. 4N). The Wear Resistance and Scratch Resistance tests measure different things.
Finally, this shows that ELESGO Supergloss gives better performance than the High Gloss Flooring that is being sold by other UK competitors. Also, when compared to “mid Gloss” designs (which can’t really be called High Gloss), ELESGO also compares very favourably.

How scratch resistant is this flooring? What steps should I take to make sure the flooring stays as good as new for as long as possible?
Ray
Hi Ray,
Elesgo flooring is approved for use in light commercial environments and medium-heavy traffic residential environments. This means it can be used all around the home, with no problem. Care should be taken to protect it from extremely heavy furniture with sharp edges, as just like any standard laminate floor it can be damaged from sharp corners/dropped heavy items.
The Elesgo has been used in many different environments and tested to a high standard to ensure that it’s given the correct AC-Laminate Wear Rating.
If you have any further questions or concerns about the Elesgo range, or any other of our products, please feel free to get in touch with our Product Experts on 01429 241 270.
Thanks!
